Mirage

Give me some more of those false, false dreams.

Take me to share your mirage.

Nothing we do's ever quite what it seems.

Fool's gold that time will dislodge.

Build me a vision to span the years.

Then you can go while it's dying.

I thought I'd long ago ran out of tears.

Why aren't I glad that I'm crying.

I have mapped the trail of ruins

That you seem to leave behind

And they certainly resemble

What were once good friends of mine.

There's a pattern in your doin's

That I'm kind of scared to learn.

Will you love me 'till I tremble

Or just chain me here to burn?

You disturb me when I'm quiet.

You destroy my nights of rest.

And I find it hard to buy it

When you say it's for the best.

It's not what I'd been dreaming of.

I know you know it's true.

You do not need a man to love,

Just something you can do.

I Don't Expect Nothing From You
