Old Enough

I hate to see someone gentle and kind

Watching the party so sadly.

Look in my eyes and you'll see in my mind.

I wouldn't treat you so badly.

I can see feelings that yearn to be freed.

I've got the eyes that can spot it.

I'm old enough to know just what you need.

I'm young enough that I've got it.

I'd like to have you right here by my side.

Don't want to put you above me.

How can you tell if you never have tried,

What it might feel like to love me.

Life can be tough, but at least we are free.

Say what you feel without cursin'.

Though you are always a woman to me,

That isn't less than a person.

Run if you must, but you'll never escape,

Putting the future behind you.

When will your dreams have a chance to take shape?

How will your love ever find you?

I can see feelings that yearn to be freed.

I've got the eyes that can spot it.

I'm old enough to know just what you need.

I'm young enough that I've got it.
