LIFE-TIME
Life is like a time machine
That only goes one way.
You turn around and "Pow!"
You're in the future.
Now we all are strangers
In a world we never made.
Sometimes I get lonely,
And sometimes I feel afraid.
Facing brand new dangers,
We forget about old sorrow.
And see the present only
As the past becomes tomorrow.
Some think Time's a stream,
Or an illusion, or a jail.
I think it's an ocean
Where you sink if you don't sail.
Maybe it's a dream
We only live while someone sleeps,
But I still have the notion
That we're playing it for keeps.
Nothing lasts forever
But the errors that you've made.
You won't feel so clever
When your dues are finally paid.
And, like a pinball wizard
In a video arcade,
I wonder, "How the hell
You get a replay?"
Drifting with the flow
You wonder where you'll finally land.
Someday, you may know,
But you will never understand.
No one's going to come
And take you gently by the hand,
And lead you to the throne
When this is over.
Life
is sometimes like a thiefWho's lurking in the dark:
"The moment you're not watching,
It's behind you."
