I CAN'T HELP HOPING
I can't help hoping while there's faith to keep,
And loving beauty when I find it.
At night, sometimes, I cry myself to sleep.
But, in the morning, I don't mind it.
My dreams are precious, and will not be sold.
They often help to make the pain go.
I won't quit searching for that pot of gold.
I'll fix my eyes upon the rainbow.
Miracles make the blind to see.
Angels have wings to fly.
Maybe life's been unkind to me,
But not 'cause I've reached too high.
The road may lead us to a better way,
An end to all the pain and sorrow.
I'll keep on looking for a brighter day.
I'll pin my hopes upon tomorrow
Here, where the homeless come to rest,
Never again to roam.
We'll see it's all been for the best
And all of the paths led home.
I can't help hoping while there's
faith to keep,And loving beauty when I find it.
At night, sometimes, I cry myself to sleep.
But, in the morning, I don't mind it.
